The SCAT 4340 Chromoly Billet Crankshaft for Porsche 356 and 912 engines is heat treated, precision ground, and nitrided for longevity, offering superior strength to all factory and aftermarket crankshafts. Counterweights are knife-edged for weight reduction, saving approximately 2 lbs. Recommended for all performance builds when exceeding the stock rev limit or when the engine will see performance use such as autocross, drivers education, or track use. A must for race engines and good for 8000+ rpm, not that you’ll need it.

If you plan on revving your Porsche 356 or 912 engine over 6000 rpm regularly, you should use an uncounterweighted C, or SC/912 crank, but even better, upgrade to SCAT’s billet 8-10912L crank for the ultimate upgrade for your 616 engine. When doing so we recommend also changing out your connecting rods for upgraded forged rods from Carrillo or Pauter to make your bottom end bulletproof.
