Mahle Motorsport & Nickies cylinder and piston sets for air-cooled Porsche

Porsche's top engine builders have relied on Mahle Motorsports piston and cylinder kits for their Porsche 911 engine rebuilds for decades, including P&C kits sold exclusively by Andial (now Porsche Motorsports) at the time. In addition to OEM replacement Mahle piston and cylinder kits that use Nikasil-plated cast aluminum cylinders, Mahle Motorsports in conjunction with LN Engineering has reintroduced many air-cooled 911 Porsche piston and cylinder kits that have been NLA for years (no longer available) many with aluminum Nickies cylinders from LN Engineering. This includes piston and cylinder kits for all air-cooled Porsche 911 models with the 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, 2.7, 3.0, 3.2 and 3.6 Mezger engine from 1965 to 1998.

As Mahle no longer offers new aluminum Nikasil cylinders for some air-cooled Porsche 911 models, Mahle Motorsport lightweight 2618 forged pistons including modern piston rings designed for use with Nikasil plated bores are now combined with LN Engineering's aluminum Nickies cylinders.

The 2618 alloy used by Mahle Motorsport for their Porsche pistons provides the optimum rate of expansion in conjunction with our Nickies cylinders and also provides greater strength than the original forged pistons used by Porsche. All Mahle Motorsport pistons feature a phosphate dry film lubricant to prevent galling in the wrist pin bores and micro welds in the ring grooves, as well as their Grafal anti-friction coating applied to the piston skirts.

Each set of Porsche pistons comes with Mahle Motorsport's modern piston rings that are thinner than OEM rings, providing better bore compliance, resulting in less friction and an improved ring seal. These modern piston rings are also considerably stronger and more durable than the original cast Goetze piston rings used by Porsche in air-cooled 911 engines. Mahle Motorsport piston kits also include high-quality wrist pins and matching wrist pin clips.

Without a doubt, Mahle Motorsport offers the best pistons for Porsche engines and when combined with our Nickies cylinders they make the best P&C kit you can buy for your air-cooled 911.
