Description
The Porsche 930 Brake Upgrade
930 brakes were a great upgrade for 911 and 914 cars in terms of thermal capacity and pedal feel. Four-piston calipers and massive 32mm front / 28mm rear discs provide incredible stopping power.
Not only do they have excellent stopping power, but they also have a retro racing look that fits in with the times, retain the parking brake function of the 911, and even fit under many 15-inch wheels. This is why 930 brakes have historically been the sought-after upgrade for 911/914 race cars and high-end/high-powered road cars.
However, mounting them has traditionally been difficult – requiring custom machining (due to differences in the spacing between the 930/911) caliper bolts, wheel clearance issues and limited availability.
The redesigned 930-ERX calipers keep everything that's great and solve all the problems. And they accept off-the-shelf 930 type brake pads, rotors and master cylinders.
930-ERX improvements over original Porsche 930 Turbo calipers
✓ No machining of the brake caliper is required to install the 911/914 wishbone.
✓ Our rear brake calipers are the correct 3,0 inch bolt spacing and radial position to mount directly to '69-'89 911/912/914 wishbones.
✓ The front and rear brake caliper cooling fins are low profile so they don't interfere with the Fuchs wheel spokes without the need for spacers.
✓ A modern staggered piston design is used for even pad wear on our 930-ERX calipers. Original 930 calipers used the same size pistons, which made the pads tapered.
930-ERX Mounting and Compatibility
The front brake calipers have a bolt spacing of 3,5 inches and bolt directly to the front struts, as fitted on 911, 912 and 914 cars from '72-'89 and 911 S models from before '72. Early front struts with a spacing of 3,0 caliper bolts can be converted to 3,5" struts, please contact us for details.
- Rear calipers have 3,0 bolt spacing for direct mounting on '911-'912 914, 69 and 89 wishbones including aluminum and steel wishbones.
- Front and rear calipers accept standard 930 brake pads and standard 911 brake hoses.
- Rear calipers use standard type 930 rotors part 930-352-046-01
- Front calipers fit regular 911/914 hubs and use early type 930 floating discs with our hat kit #2190005 (floating) or #2190010 (fixed), or late 930 hubs with late 930 fixed discs.
- Use the standard 930 master cylinder on 911-77 89 cars equipped with a brake booster, or master cylinder kit #2190011 for pre 77 cars with non-reinforced brakes.
