Description

This adjustment tool set for 2.9l, 3.0l and 4.0l TFSI EA825, EA839 engines for VAG & Porsche contains all the important tools for professionally performing work on the timing chain and camshaft drive.
The camshaft adjustment tool has different bores, the correct use should always be determined in the workshop manual.

Tip:
To improve use with normal workshop equipment, we have also made the counterholder usable as a torque adapter for camshaft adjuster preload. Note the change in length of the torque wrench and the corresponding calculation of the replacement value for the 30 Nm used by the OE. (center of handle to center of square to center of handle to center of wrench) The final tightening of 35° remains the same as specified in the workshop manual. The camshaft adapters are lasered to the OE tool part numbers, making it easier to quickly identify the required adapter pair.

CAUTION: 

  • The tool used according to the repair instructions (to be used like T40314 & T40263) can be replaced with a 1/2″ ratchet.
  • The marks on the camshaft adjusters must be offset by 180° from the relevant sprues on the camshaft housing. Turn the crankshaft one more turn if necessary.
  • Note 2 different versions of the closing screw for the “OT” hole,
    Screw plug version A: Clean screw plug and tighten with a new O-ring with 25 Nm.
    Screw plug version B: Replace screw plug after dismantling. Tighten the screw plug to 40 Nm.
  • This timing tool has been precisely designed to eliminate the need for re-adjustment after engine installation.
