K-Jetronic overhaul

Many modern and classic cars are equipped with the reliable Bosch K or KE Jetronic injection system. The system can be found in the Porsche 911 3.0 Carrera, 930 and 965 Turbo, 924 and 928, Ferrari, including the Mondial, 308i, 400i and Testarossa, as well as the Lancia Thema 8.32 and many Mercedes-Benz models such as the R107, R129 SL, W124 500E or W126. Also popular are the Audi Quattro, 80E and Saab 900.

The K-jetronic injection system belongs to the group of Continuous Injection System. This means that the fuel is continuously injected into the intake. The system is completely mechanically constructed. Later this system was modified by adding a lambda control system and as a successor came the KE-jetronic, a renewed version with an electronic control module.

Due to the age of the system, not using the car and modern E5/E10 petrol, there is enormous wear and tear which means the system can no longer function properly. The only solution is to check the system completely on a number of basic points.

If these basic points have been completed and the system still does not function optimally (poor starting, good running when cold, poor running when warm, etc.), you should consider overhauling parts.

The main components of the system:

  1. Fuel pump: This should always be tested first and replaced if necessary. Note that the pressure should be measured at the fuel distributor, because pipes and filters can also cause problems.

  2. Warm-up regulator: The purpose of the warm-up regulator is to enrich the fuel mixture during cold starting. When the engine warms up, the mixture is leaned to the correct ratio. This component is reconditionable, but complex to test and adjust.

  3. Injector: Given the age, it is better to replace it with a new one. The costs are reasonable and the engine will run much better. Nowadays, the revision is the same as a new one. We can clean and test them if desired.

  4. The fuel distributor (also called mixture regulator or spider head) has the function of providing the different cylinders with exactly the same amount of fuel. Some models have a fuel pressure regulator built in internally. This part consists of many small components, like a mechanical watch. The correct revision of this part can only go well if, after completion, it is extensively tested and adjusted on Bosch equipment. This is included in the price of the revision.

Revision K-Jetronic or KE-Jetronic

We offer an overhaul of your fuel distributor and overheating regulator. We don't ship new parts; only your original parts are overhauled and adjusted to maintain their originality. Note: When overhauling the KE-Jetronic, the EHA (black box) and the pressure regulator must also be included. This explains the additional cost of the overhaul for the KE version, due to the additional testing required.
